Half Term Holidays

Half Term Holidays

Half term holidays when you run a family business can sometimes mean chaos. Luckily for us at Clitheroe Security Systems, we have wonderful family that step in to take care of the boys, when we are both working for the businesses. I do like to keep you updated on what we get up to as a family, it shows we are real. I also appreciate that sometimes its just good to be nosy and have a read about what others are up to. Maybe sharing what we get up to can also inspire days out and help salvage the sanity of other parents in the school holidays.

Thornton Hall Country Park

Wednesday is my day off, as a rule I try and go somewhere with them. Whether it just be a park, play centre or a full day out. It just eases the mum guilt. We go to Thornton Hall Country Park once or twice a year. Usually in Summer. With Halloween around the corner we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and go pumpkin picking here. So off we went.

What’s To Do There

Thornton Hall country Park gets bigger and better each time we go. We as a family have attended since Arlo was a toddler. There is daily activities, seasonal activities. It is a full day out and great value for money. First activity was to feed the animals, both Arlo and Axll adore animals so they were in their element.

Following the feeding time we headed into the big barn. There is heaps going on in here, more farm animals. Sand pits, Tractor rides which the boys loved. Colouring seasonal pictures, giant slides. There is an area full of hay bales with rope swings for the older kids (parents lol).

We then went on a Safari Ride around the farm. This is something we have never done on our prior visits to the park. Its such a vast area that you don’t get to see from the main area. We got introduced to Bruce the stag and his many many girlfriends. It was mating season so he was too tired to come over and see us. Arlo was made up because he was sat in the front with the farmer and he helped steer the safari vehicle, which i can only describe as a hardcore golf buggy with hefty tyres. The safari ride was very informative and we all enjoyed it.

Then it was time to pumpkin pick. Now i am a serial Instagram user. I was excited to go pumpkin picking after seeing all the beautiful posts on insta. I had high expectations and expected to get the perfect grid picture. It was horrendous, stressful. They got a cute little wheel barrow, that they obviously had a fight over. Arlo wanted every pumpkin. I think he literally picked each one up, which Axll was furious at, because he didn’t want anything in the wheel barrow he had wrestled off his big brother. So decided to roll around the mud patch in his new beige coat. MUMLIFE!! So here we are with the chosen pumpkin, and our impossible 2 year old whom is too cool for pumpkin patch pic.

After that stress they then went on to the bouncy pillows which is another recent attraction. It was home time.
